Homing Instinct

Sellers frown on Buyers moving in before closing, for about 27 (valid) reasons.  See, “Move-in Agreements & Rent-Backs”; and “Real Estate Chutzpah.”

But, the Momma raccoon that set up housekeeping in my client’s window well hardly asked anyone’s permission.

And since my clients moved out-of-town well before closing, it fell to the Buyer — and specifically, their pre-closing walk-thru inspection — to discover them.

Instead of insisting that the Seller call animal control (or an exterminator!), however, the Buyer graciously decided to leave the Momma and baby raccoons alone, and let time — and a helpful 2 x 4 they put in the window well — take its course.

Homelander in “The Boys”: a Superhero’s Super Powers — and Surprising Lack Thereof

  Superhero as Psychopath [ Spoiler alert : this post divulges a sub-plot from Season One, Episode #4, “The Female of the Species.” Stop here if you don’t want to know.] As super powers go, you’d think safely landing a stricken passenger jet would be a cinch. Especially when the Superhero (“Supe”) in question — Homelander in Amazon Prime’s “The Boys” — can fly at the speed of sound, shoot lethal laser beams from his eyes, and hurl 8-ton trucks as if they were toys. Latest Communication Tools: Slack, Email, and Instant Messaging (“Slack?!?”)

Slack, email and instant messaging are famous for their inability to convey tone, and the resulting crossed wires.” –“ Where You Should Move to Make the Most Money: America’s Superstar Cities “; The Wall Street Journal (12/15/18). Apparently, not only don’t I use the most cutting edge technology . . . I don’t even recognize their names. Exhibit A: something called “slack” (or, is that “Slack??”). Definition, Please According to the online dictionaries I checked, the only noun version of the word is this one: “looseness, play , give” — as in , “the rope had some slack in it.” I’m familiar with the word slacks (plural) — what I wear to work most days — but I’m pretty sure that’s not what the author meant.
